There are many parts of a factory Hyundai engine. The main parts, though, are its block, cylinder head, and cylinders. There's a piston for nearly every cylinder, too. Plus, every engine has valves, a valve cover, a camshaft and crankshaft, spark plugs, and an oil sump (or oil pan), among other parts.
What each does is straightforward. The valve covers and head, you'll find on top of the block. They seal it, protecting valves and other engine parts, helping to keep gas from escaping, and preventing oil leakage.
The head has two valves, one for intake and one for exhaust. Intake valves optimize an engine's air and fuel ratio, while exhaust valves adjust fume levels inside an engine. Camshafts manage valve activity. Engine pistons, however, compress the mixture of gas and oxygen the engine burns for power as they pump, making more potential energy available.
Spark plugs combust that mix initially. Crankshafts then turn that power into rotary motion, which a driveshaft and transmission use to move wheels and tires. All engine parts need lubrication to work, though, and the oil pan or sump stores it for use as the engine runs. Many other parts, such as sprockets, rings, gears, and bearings, make everything fit together correctly.
When any wear out, though, engine problems follow. Signs of them include idling issues, acceleration trouble, lower fuel efficiency, and stalling. You may not even be able to start your Hyundai at all.
