OEM Hyundai Air Filters
Some drivers these days underestimate the importance of air filters. What they do, however, is exceptionally important. Your Hyundai has two of them: one for its engine and one for its HVAC system.
Its engine air filter traps dirt, dust, and particulate before it can accumulate on engine parts like your air intake. Its cabin air filter catches pollen and other airborne allergens before they can build up in the ducts and on the vents and fans in the heater and air conditioner. If too much crud got into those systems, it'd wear out their parts fast.
Unfortunately, air filters don't last forever. They clog sooner or later, causing even more trouble. A blocked engine air filter leads to increased emissions, lowers your gas mileage, and can even make your engine misfire. A blocked cabin air filter makes your heater and air conditioner work harder, which stresses your engine and leads to interior temperature and air quality issues.
To prevent this from happening, be sure to replace both air filters regularly. There are signs that'll tell you it's time. The most obvious: dirty and degraded fibers, a lit Check Engine light, and other warning lights on the dash. Others range from abnormal engine noise and engine misfires and power loss to trouble accelerating, worsening fuel economy, and black smoke coming out of the exhaust. On the interior, you may also hear whistling and/or other unusual sounds coming from the vents in the cabin, not to mention unpleasant odors. Otherwise, change air filters every 12,000 to 15,000 miles (and no more than every 30,000 miles).
Refer to your owner's manual if you need more info on replacement. Its filter maintenance schedule can help. When you order new air filters, be sure to buy genuine OEM. Those your brand makes will fit the model you drive best.
